Journalist Nathan Gassing has now claimed that Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino could actually name an injured player in his squad for the League Cup final on Sunday.
He took to Twitter to state that defender and veteran star Thiago Silva could well be named on the bench for the Blues following his recent groin injury.
Silva is clearly the most experienced player in the squad right now, and his presence in the squad is likely key going into the biggest game of many of these players careers.
The Blues will meet Liverpool at Wembley on Sunday in the EFL Cup final, with it being the first final competed in by the side since Todd Boehly and co took over.
It is also the latest opportunity for Mauricio Pochettino to break his duck in English football as far as trophies go, with him yet to win one in this country.
The boss will already be close to knowing the 11 he would like to name against Jurgen Klopp’s side, with him safe in the knowledge that a number of his first team players will be missing from the game due to injury.
Silva could make bench
Centre-back is one of the roles where he will have a decision to make, after seeing Axel Disasi and Levi Colwill put in top performances there at the weekend.

Gissing has claimed that Silva could well still be named on the bench though.
He said: “Thiago Silva hasn’t trained this week with the Chelsea team; today, he was continuing his rehab programme on his minor groin injury.
“However, Silva could still make the bench for the Carabao Cup final on Sunday despite not being fully fit.”
It has already been reported that Benoit Badiashile will be missing from the squad after suffering a reoccurrence of his injury in recent weeks.
