Cole Palmer has been Chelsea’s standout player this season.

This is the first time in Cole Palmer‘s career where the attacker has been a regular starter.

Nevertheless, he has still managed to come up with 32 goal contributions in 37 appearances for Chelsea.

Without him, the Blues would probably be near the relegation zone and not in an FA Cup semi-final.

However, Mauricio Pochettino still thinks there are quite a few areas of his game that can be improved. The Argentine has also admitted that he struggles to find a place in the team for both the 21-year-old and Noni Madueke.

Mauricio Pochettino on where Cole Palmer can improve

Pochettino is keen for Palmer to work on his consistency and a few other things.

Speaking on Stadium Astro, the Chelsea boss said: “I think when he arrived he adapted very well, very quick to Chelsea. The challenge is to help him to be always with his feet on the grass and try to realise the thing that still needs to improve.

“He needs to improve in many things. For example, in the capacity to be more consistent and tactical things, to learn and to play not only in one position and doing always the same movement. He needs to learn the capacity to use different possibility to add in his game to make the possibility for him to perform better and better and better because he’s still young.

“Yes, we are in that moment where we need to support him, but at the same time we need to create in him the necessity that every day to try to be better and better and better.”

Where has Cole Palmer played this season?

Palmer’s main position has been on the right. However, the Englishman’s preferred role is just behind the striker, where he has also played this term.

Palmer has started up front as well, so he has been quite a versatile attacker for the Blues in the current campaign.

Chelsea paid Premier League rivals Manchester City £45m for the England international’s signature, and he has been worth every penny and then some.

At 21, Palmer obviously has time to get better too, and it looks like that is exactly what Pochettino is expecting from the former City man, who will face his old club in the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley on Saturday.
