Joe Cole has delivered an interesting verdict on Napoli’s Victor Osimhen amid reported interest from Chelsea.

Victor Osimhen, 25, emerged as one of the most exciting young strikers around in the last few years.

His standout spell in Naples came last season, netting 31 times in 39 games for Italian champions Napoli.

Unfortunately, the attacker’s 2023/24 campaign so far has been interrupted by injuries and international commitments, albeit he’s still got eight goals in 18 club appearances.

His name has been frequently linked with Chelsea in the transfer rumour mill.

CaughtOffside claimed this week that Chelsea are ready to go all in to try sign Osimhen from Napoli when the summer transfer window comes around at the end of the season.

We understand if Blues fans are sceptical about signing a high-profile No 9, with the club’s track record pretty poor in general.

However, Osimhen is a great goalscorer with pace, power and potential.

If the Blues can negotiate a reasonable price, we’d be behind this transfer!

Joe Cole discusses Victor Osimhen

Pundit and former Chelsea star Joe Cole has been discussing the next talent to join the club of the world’s elite forwards.

He’s raised concern about a dip from Napoli’s Osimhen. However, he’s still tipping him as a star in the making.

When asked which current young striker could be the next big thing, Joe Cole told TNT Sports 1 (7:20pm, 20 February): “I think one or two of them will emerge out of that group. [Dusan] Vlahovic is very good technically and a good finisher. Darwin Nunez does unbelievably well with his all-round game and he needs to brush up on that side.

“Osimhen was the one this time last year everyone was looking at and then he’s fallen off a little bit. [Rasmus] Hojlund I think he’s got a chance.

“If you’re asking me for one, I’d probably go with Osimhen. He would be the one but I’m going from six month ago not from at the moment. Any of those four could do it.”
