Chelsea sold so many of their players in the last summer transfer window.

Right now, some are doing better than others. The likes of Christian Pulisic and Kai Havertz are thriving at AC Milan and Arsenal respectively, for example.

Pulisic has scored 10 goals in 29 league appearances, while Havertz is not that far off, netting nine in 30.

Others have not done as well, though. While he was able to score in Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Brentford at the end of last month, Mason Mount has missed most of the season because of injury.

The attacking midfielder was taunted by Chelsea supporters upon his return to Stamford Bridge.

Manager really believes in former Chelsea player

The likes of Havertz and Mount were not small investments.

To be precise, Arsenal paid Chelsea £65m to sign Havertz, while United struck a £55m deal with their Premier League rivals for Mount.

Focusing on Havertz, though, he is a player who the Gunners really wanted it seems.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed on Substack that Mikel Arteta really “pushed a lot” to sign Havertz and that he believes the Germany international has big potential.

Which player do Chelsea miss more, Kai Havertz or Mason Mount?

Mount could have been perfect in the No.10 role that Conor Gallagher is currently occupying, while Havertz was mostly used as a false 9 during his time at Chelsea.

Being an attacking midfielder, Mount is technically better than his England team-mate.

The 25-year-old can finish and create chances, scoring 11 goals and providing 10 assists in the 2021/22 Premier League season.

Mount could have been a really useful player in Mauricio Pochettino‘s system, especially if the Argentine persists with Cole Palmer on the wing. It really is a shame that the United star never came to an agreement with Chelsea over a new contract.
