Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson will never grow into a world class player in the future.

That is according to talkSPORT pundit Jamie O’Hara.

Nicolas Jackson, who’s only aged 22, is quietly having a pretty decent debut season in English football.

Yes, the young striker has come under-fire for criticism at times for missing some big goalscoring chances. However, the Blues star is showing a lot of positive signs and his all-round game looks very tidy.

He’s now up to 12 goals in 31 Chelsea appearances across all competitions so far. If he can break past the 15-goal mark in his first year, we’d put that down as a success.

O’Hara admits that he is actually a fan of Jackson. His major concern is that he can’t picture Chelsea’s No 15 ever developing into a world-class star, though.

When discussing Jackson’s future, O’Hara told talkSPORT (10:40pm, 11 March): “He’s not going to be world-class… I like him. I think he’s good. He’s got potential.

“Do I believe he’s ever going to be a star striker in the Premier League that Chelsea need if you want to compete at the top of the table? The best teams in the Premier League are the ones that have got the best strikers. Simple as that. Nicolas Jackson I don’t think is going to be that.”

Nicolas Jackson future

Like any pundit, O’Hara’s entitled to his opinion. We’re going to disagree with him on this one, though.

If we were to guess Jackson’s career path, which in itself is a flip of a coin, we’d lean more towards him one day growing into a superstar frontman.

We can see from watching Jackson every single match this year that he’s currently still a bit raw and can be frustrating at times. But don’t let that distract you from the fact he’s a gifted footballer, has great work-rate, and is still weighing in with a steady flow of goals.
