That is according to well-respected journalist Simon Phillips.

We’re not overly surprised to hear that the Chelsea attacker is an important figure at the club.

Raheem Sterling influence

With everything Sterling’s achieved in his long senior career to date, which does span over a decade, he’s a great role model for Chelsea’s emerging talents.

He’s quietly having a pretty decent campaign without yet hitting top gear, scoring eight goals and making eight assists across all competitions so far. It’ll be interesting to see if he does enough to make Gareth Southgate’s final England squad for the Euro 2024 tournament in Germany this summer.

Despite his experience and quality, Sterling’s been linked with a possible move away from west London at the end of the season.

Journalist Dean Jones told GiveMeSport earlier this week that Chelsea’s hierarchy are currently split on whether to keep or sell Sterling in the summer window.

It’ll be interesting to see whether the Blues are ready to lose an individual that brings plenty both on and off pitch for them. We’re concerned about a lack of know-how in Mauricio Pochettino’s group, so it could be an unnecessary risk.
