Chelsea legend Petr Cech has now spoken on the relationship he had with owner Todd Boehly during his time at Stamford Bridge.

He told the Obi One podcast that the decision to leave the club was entirely his, and it did not come off the back of any form of disagreement with the new men in charge.

Boehly has often faced the brunt of criticism from supporters as a result of their drop in results and performances over the last two seasons.

This is despite the dwindling role he is playing in the way the club is being running. He chose to attend the Bahrain Grand Prix on Saturday instead of watching the Blues take on Brentford.

Despite being an incredibly popular figure with fans, Cech left his role on the board not long after the change of ownership.

He has now spoken about making that decision, saying it was not as a result of any form of falling out with Boehly and Behdad Eghbali.

Cech on Todd Boehly

He said: “I have to say the decision to leave was mine. I know people think the new ownership came and I didn’t like and I left. I have to say I had very good conversations with Todd and Behdad because they are both working on it.

“It’s not only Todd. I had conversations with them. It’s not they came and I left. The transition came from three months before the end of the season so there was a preparation for next season.

“When I do things I do things 100 per cent and at 100 miles per hour. But we had new owners who came with a lot of ideas and they had their vision, which is what they prepared.

“I almost felt like, you know when you come to a new club, you should do it with people that you have 100 per cent the same vision and the same thing and you go forward. And that is the thing I was thinking. I was thinking it would be best for everybody if the club starts from [zero]. I felt it was the best way.”

Cech has turned to punditry in recent weeks, giving analysis recently during Chelsea’s last-minute win against Crystal Palace.

He was extremely insightful when discussing Djordje Petrovic, and how he could have potentially done better despite it looking as if the goal he had conceded was out of the top draw.

Supporters in the current day meanwhile continue to be frustrated with the situation they are in, with a lot of that blame heading the way of the American at this point.
