Frank Leboeuf claims he’s hopeful that Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher can emulate the rise of legendary player Frank Lampard.
We doubt the Blues will ever own a midfielder again that scores as regularly as Frank Lampard did, the best to ever play for the club in the opinion of some.
A lot of people forget there were question marks around him as a player during his younger days at West Ham, but he carved out one of the great playing careers in Chelsea colours.
Now, Mauricio Pochettino’s side would love someone with even half his talent and eye for goal.
ESPN pundit Frank Leboeuf has made a small comparison between Lampard and current Chelsea star Conor Gallagher.
He’s compared 24-year-old box-to-box midfielder Gallagher to a raw Lampard. He wants to believe he’ll develop in a similar way and emulate him.
“You have to keep Gallagher, he’s the spirit of the team for me, the guy who can give them a boost. He’s starting to get a little bit of experience and I like his presence, I like him fighting in the middle of the park,” Leboeuf told ESPN.

“I saw Frank Lampard playing for West Ham and I played against him… but he has so much weakness. I couldn’t bet on him. I saw him improving his game when he came to Chelsea and grew up like crazy. And he became one of the best midfielders in the world.
“I want to believe that Gallagher has that. We’ll see if he gets it…”
Conor Gallagher future
We’re pretty certain Gallagher’s left it too late to match Lampard levels, but he can and should be a really important player in Chelsea’s future.
He’s scored four goals in his last five appearances to highlight his qualities. In fairness, he’s go relentless energy and always gets into great positions.
Speaking via talkSPORT yesterday, Jamie O’Hara said he loves Gallagher as a player due to his incredible energy and character.
Our belief is that Gallagher’s definitely the type of all-action midfielder that should aim for double digits in the goal department every season. The £50,000-a-week star (Spotrac) is a rough diamond getting better by the week.
