Michail Antonio has made his prediction for this Sunday’s League Cup final between Chelsea and Liverpool.
It’s a repeat of the 2022 EFL Cup final, with Chelsea facing Liverpool for the Carabao Cup trophy this weekend.
The Blues have lost their previous five consecutive domestic cup finals at Wembley Stadium, so this young squad needs to try end that poor run at the national ground.
Similarly, Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino is yet to win silverware as a manager in England.
Speaking on The Footballer’s Football podcast, Fulham captain Tom Cairney and West Ham striker Michail Antonio have been discussing this weekend’s upcoming League Cup final.
Cairney said: “I think Chelsea could do it.”
Antonio shared: “I’m going to go with Liverpool. I think they are going to win something this year, I’m not sure if it will be the Premier League but I believe they could take this.”
Elsewhere, speaking via Football Daily this week, Theo Walcott predicted the Chelsea-Liverpool final will go all the way to penalties.

Chelsea vs Liverpool
If you’re looking for signs of encouragement as a Chelsea supporter, the team’s recent form in the last few games proves they are moving in the right direction.
They went toe-to-toe with Manchester City last weekend to earn a 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium, which should give the players in the camp plenty of belief. Also, there’s been away victories over Aston Villa and Crystal Palace.
We’re looking towards some of Chelsea’s in-form attacking players for some inspiration this weekend. The likes of Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson and Conor Gallagher are definitely potential match-winners.
The subplot in the media going into Sunday is that Liverpool are very unfortunate with their injury problems. Yes, they’ve got some issues. But Chelsea’s own injury list feels as long as it has all campaign.
