Inter crossed into the box and Romelu Lukaku was there to meet it just yards away from goal.

However, Ederson made an excellent save to deny the Belgian striker before City got rid of the danger.

Fans in the stands at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium could not believe what they saw as panic ran across their eyes.

Speaking on talkSPORT, former City defender Stuart Pearce said: “Absolutely incredible. It could have gone anywhere, Inter thought they scored.”

It proved to be a crucial save as City went on to win the Champions League for the first time in their history and complete the treble.

The performance was far from their best as Inter were the more impressive side in the first half.

Neither side had any real clear cut chances throughout much of the clash and it was clear that City looked nervy.

However, a real moment of quality ensured the deadlock was broken, with Rodri being the man of the hour.

His expertly struck shot fired into the Inter goal to put the tie in City’s hands, and all they had to do was hold on.

And hold on they did, with the helping hand of Ederson’s heroics in the dying moments when it really mattered.

Full-time soon came and it was jubilation for City as they won the pinnacle of club football for the first time.

They were able to put their heartbreak of 2021 against Chelsea behind them and finally get their hands on the prestigious trophy.

City have also reached the incredible achievement of winning the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup, a stunning treble.

Only rivals Manchester United had achieved such success beforehand in 1999, with comparisons set to continue to be made.

However, what is certain is this City side will go down as one of the best of all time, proving they can win even when they play far below their usual standards.
