Chelsea have paid some big fees for players over the last few transfer windows.
That includes Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez, with the former now Chelsea‘s record signing. The club bought him from Brighton & Hove Albion during the summer in a £115m deal (Sky Sports).
Speaking to Frankfurter Allgemeine, former Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeneß has now suggested that the Blues paid too much money for one of their recent additions.
Caicedo and Fernandez have both been key players under Mauricio Pochettino this season, often partnering each other in the middle of the park.
They were both praised by Roy Keane for their displays in Chelsea’s 3-1 win against Aston Villa midweek.

Uli Hoeneß suggests Chelsea overspent on Moises Caicedo
Hoeneß says Bayern will never spend the kind of money Chelsea paid for Caicedo because it is too much.
On the midfielder, he said: “I looked at Moises Caicedo. I thought to myself: Spend €127m on him? Others are welcome to do that. But FC Bayern will certainly never do that because it is simply too much money for us — regardless of the qualities of this player.”

Chelsea did overpay for Moises Caicedo
Caicedo is a good player and showed that at Brighton. Last season, he made 2.7 tackles per game in the Premier League, which was the highest average in the Seagulls’ squad (WhoScored).
However, there is no way you can justify paying over £100m for the Ecuadorian, or at least not yet.
Caicedo is still quite young at 22 and had not played at a big English club before joining Chelsea. In fact, he did not arrive at Stamford Bridge with a wealth of Premier League experience in general.
The Ecuador international had not been at Brighton for that long, making just 45 appearances in the top flight for them.
