Liverpool will get their most important pre-season campaign in recent years underway when they take on Karlsruher this week.

The Reds need the perfect preparations to hit the ground running for the 2023/24 season following a horror showing last year.

Jurgen Klopp’s side finished without silverware and outside of the Champions League spots after claiming just four wins from their first 10 Premier League games.

Having now bolstered their midfield department, Liverpool will travel to Germany for a training camp in the Black Forest town of Donaueschingen.

Karlsruher, who play in the second tier of German football, will provide the first test for the new-look Merseysiders.

New signings Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai will both be expected to make their unofficial Reds debut.

But neither Curtis Jones or Harvey Elliott will be available for the visitors following their heroics in England U21’s Euro triumph.

The pair have been granted additional holiday to recover from their exhaustive tournament efforts.

But both men will join the squad on Thursday after the Karlsruher match.
