Christopher Nkunku’s return from injury is going to give Chelsea a huge boost.

That is according to Blues teammate Raheem Sterling.

Chelsea’s squad has been decimated by injuries for pretty much the whole season so far, with so many key players kept on the sidelines. In particular, the loss of Christopher Nkunku for most of the campaign has been really significant.

He’s a super talented attacker that joined for £52 million (Sky Sports) from RB Leipzig last summer, but he’s only played a handful of games for the Blues. Incidentally, he’s got two goals in five Chelsea appearances, including a consolation in the midweek defeat at Liverpool.

Hopefully, the 26-year-old’s now about to properly launch his career at Stamford Bridge by staying fit and playing matches consistently.

Chelsea winger Sterling, 28, suggests that Nkunku’s comeback can give the side a lift moving into this second half of the season.

When asked how big Nkunku’s return is, Sterling told Sky Sports: “It will be massive. I was really excited in pre-season with the type of player he is. I knew I would click really well with him. But again, unfortunate with his injury. Coming back he’ll be a massive boost for us and he’s a player that’s got experience as well. We can’t wait to have him back.”

Raheem Sterling praises Christopher Nkunku

We’re sure Chelsea supporters share the same enthusiasm for Nkunku’s return as Sterling.

Speaking via talkSPORT this week after the Liverpool game, Carlton Cole named Nkunku’s cameo performance from the bench as the only positive for Chelsea.

He was a top player and regular scorer in Germany for Leipzig, so we hope he can replicate that in England.

Chelsea’s attack is crying out for a talisman right now. They can’t go out now to sign an out-and-out No 9 until the summer, so Nkunku may need to burden the responsibility in the next few months ahead.
