Chelsea travel to Sheffield United tomorrow evening in a Premier League fixture, but how many changes will there be following a quick turnaround from Thursday night?

The Blues beat Manchester United in a dramatic 4-3 thriller a couple of nights ago at Stamford Bridge.

Next, Mauricio Pochettino’s side play away on Sunday against a Sheffield United team rooted to the bottom league table.

With victories for both seventh-placed West Ham and eight-placed Newcastle United on Saturday, the pressure’s cranked up on Chelsea tomorrow to get three points and stay in the hunt for Europe.

Chelsea fans demand Trevoh Chalobah recall

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media are desperate for Pochettino to recall Trevoh Chalobah versus Sheffield United.

The 24-year-old defender missed last week’s draw with Burnley through injury before returning to the bench against Man United, where he came on as a late substitute.

He’s missed the majority of the campaign so far through injury, but he’s definitely had a look-in under Pochettino when fit.

Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile struggled as the starting centre-backs at home to Man United. Jason Cundy even described Disasi and Badiashile as “terrible” in that match via Chelsea’s official app (9:40pm, 4 April).

Therefore, it’s not the biggest surprise that some Blues fans on social media are asking for the return of one centre-half.

Here are some Chelsea supporters on X urging Pochettino to start Chalobah:

One fan said: “I think I speak for everyone wen I say Chalobah needs to start tomorrow’s game.”

Another wrote: “Chalobah must start Sunday.”

A third posted: “Chalobah needs to start the next match.”

Another shared: “I will admit I didn’t want Chalobah to start yesterday’s game strictly because of match fitness compared to Diassi. But after yesterday, against Sheffield united he deserves to start.”

A fifth supporter claimed: “Chalobah has to start against Sheffield. Disasi and Badiashile don’t work well together.”

Another said: “… Chalobah should start every game till end of season if fit.”

Our Chelsea back four

If we had control of team selection tomorrow, we’d go with something different to what we expect from the manager.

Malo Gusto at right-back and Marc Cucurella at left-back pick themselves as the full-back combination due to the squad’s current injuries.

However, we’d swap out both Disasi and Badiashile in the heart of defence.

For us, Thiago Silva and Chalobah would be the best option as the starting centre-backs against Sheffield United. Unfortunately, Silva’s been completely frozen out and it looks like permanently exiled to the bench.
