Chelsea have three players that have qualified for this summer’s Euro 2024 final.
Blues pair Cole Palmer and Conor Gallagher play for England. Meanwhile, Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella stars for Spain.
The club teammates will now go head to head in Sunday’s final in Berlin.
Palmer, Chelsea’s Player of the Season from last year, has been restricted in his ability to light up the Euro 2024 tournament because of a lack of game time.
The 22-year-old attacker hasn’t started a single England match at the Euros. Instead, Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate has used him as a substitute in the previous four matches.
Paul Merson hails Cole Palmer impact at Euro 2024
Paul Merson has paid tribute to Chelsea’s Palmer for what he’s done so far in an England shirt at the Euros.
Merson wrote on X: “European cup final, 22 years of age… He’s playing brilliantly.”
Chelsea talisman come deliver in the final
The Chelsea Chronicle wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if Palmer comes off the England bench this weekend and scores the winning goal against Spain.
He’s not had the minutes in this tournament that he arguably deserves, but deserves full credit for staying professional and adapting to this new role as an impact substitute.
Palmer assisted Ollie Watkins’ 90th-minute winning goal against the Dutch in the semi-finals.
The Chelsea star also converted the first spot-kick as England beat Switzerland during a penalty shootout in the quarter-finals of this Euros tournament.
