England star Kieran Trippier has just paid tribute to one Chelsea player for what he’s done at Euro 2024.

England stayed alive in the Euros competition by beating Slovakia on Sunday 2-1 in a grueling 120 minutes of football.

Chelsea duo Cole Palmer and Conor Gallagher were both used as substitutes during the weekend’s last-16 knockout tie.

Palmer came in the 66th minute and had another positive impact. Remarkably, the 22-year-old attacker still hasn’t started a match at this summer’s tournament.

Meanwhile, Gallagher dropped out of the XI against Slovakia after starting the previous group stage match.

The 24-year-old midfielder did get a role as a substitute during extra-time of England’s latest result. He provided extra energy and pressing off the ball for the final 15 minutes.

Kieran Trippier hails Conor Gallagher for his England cameo

Trippier thinks Gallagher deserves praise for his unsung role off the bench in the extra-time victory over Slovakia.

In particular, he mentioned Gallagher’s ‘doggies’, which are frequent shuttle runs from opponent to opponent when pressing.

“You see Conor doing ‘doggies’ at the end … I don’t think people understand how important that is,” Trippier said via The Mirror.

“He (Conor) came off at half-time (in Cologne). But it showed his mentality to come on and run for the team, do the ugly stuff that people don’t really see.”

Should the Chelsea man start against Switzerland?

England’s reward for beating Slovakia is a clash this Saturday versus Switzerland in the quarter-finals of Euro 2024.

There’s been so much change in the midfield for the Three Lions in this tournament so far, but they finally found a combination that seems to work. Therefore, the partnership of Declan Rice and Kobbie Mainoo should start again against the Swiss.

Gallagher has been used in all four England matches so far this summer, three times off the bench and once as a starter.

The Chelsea midfielder is more effective in this current international set-up as an impact substitute to provide freshness and energy when the team is tiring.
