Despite being 11th in the Premier League table, there is a lot of talent in this Chelsea squad.

Is Mauricio Pochettino fully utilising it? Well again, with Chelsea currently sitting in the bottom half of the table, clearly not.

You cannot argue that the Argentine is getting the best out of someone like Mykhailo Mudryk, for example.

Chelsea bought Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk in an £89m deal last January. Beating off competition from London rivals Arsenal, the 23-year-old arrived at Stamford Bridge as a very talented and promising winger. However, he has only made nine starts in the Premier League this season and scored four goals.

Ultimately, it is clear to see that Mudryk is not playing his best football under Pochettino. So if you are the Argentine, what you do not want to do now is start using the former Shakhtar man out of position.

His Ukraine team-mate Georgiy Sudakov has claimed that he can play up front. But using him there would be such a waste of talent.

What is Mykhailo Mudryk’s best position?

It is true, we have not seen Mudryk at his optimal level at Chelsea yet. But when you look at his attributes, everyone can see that he is best suited to the left flank.

Mudryk has tremendous pace and is more than a capable dribbler. Go back to Chelsea’s 2-0 loss against Everton in December, and the Ukraine international recorded an impressive five dribbles, more than any other player on the pitch (WhoScored).

From the left-hand side, Mudryk can run at his full-back with pace, cut in, and play balls into the likes of Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer.

Putting a player of that profile up front, to lead the line against deep blocks most weeks, seems very counterproductive.

All in all, Pochettino is already struggling to maximise the talent Mudryk has. Taking him away from where he feels most comfortable on the pitch will probably not help the situation.
