Jermain Defoe hailed one Chelsea man for his stellar performance in today’s demolition win against West Ham.

Chelsea flexed their muscles on Sunday afternoon with an impressive 5-0 victory at home to West Ham in the Premier League.

Following on from Thursday’s 2-0 success over Tottenham, Mauricio Pochettino’s side recorded back-to-back league wins in another London derby.

Cole Palmer, Conor Gallagher and Noni Madueke all scored for the Blues during a one-sided first-half. Afterwards, Nicolas Jackson scored two second-half goals to help Chelsea temporarily jump up to seventh in the division table.

Jermain Defoe wowed by Chelsea star

Jermain Defoe, the former Premier League striker, loved what he saw from Cole Palmer during Chelsea’s emphatic weekend win versus West Ham.

The 21-year-old attacking playmaker opened the scoring for the hosts with a powerful low finish into the bottom corner. It’s now 21 league goals for the left-footed talisman during this remarkable individual campaign.

On top of another goal, his general work knitting the play together in forward areas was excellent and he’s starting to look fully fit again after illness.

Defoe said via the Premier League’s official website (2:58pm, 5 May): “We speak about Cole Palmer. People talk about breaking lines, how one pass can cut three or four players out of the game. That finish [Conor Gallagher’s] is not easy. Such a controlled finish. You can’t give him that sort of time [Palmer], that quality of player. He’s been involved in everything.”
