Chelsea may have to see off competition from AC Milan this summer if they want to sign one striker.

Milan are interested in Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres and are expected to make contact with the Portuguese club before the end of the season, a report from SportsLens claims.

According to the same outlet, Gyokeres has a £86m release clause in his contract and is not fixated on a move to the Premier League in a potential blow to Chelsea.

Journalist Simon Phillips recently claimed that some of the bosses at Stamford Bridge really like the 25-year-old.

His release clause, though, means that they are going to have to get their wallets out if they want to sign him.

AC Milan to go head-to-head with Chelsea for Viktor Gyokeres

With both Milan and Chelsea seemingly having an interest in Gyokeres, it looks like they could end up battling each other for his signature in the summer transfer window.

He has been in excellent form this season, already reaching the 30-goal mark. Even so, it does not seem like the Sweden international is at the top of Chelsea’s shortlist just yet.

According to journalist Rudy Galetti, Chelsea have already prepared a contract for Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

The Nigerian appears to be the No.9 who the Blues really want. If they fail with him, then we think they may start to give serious consideration to bringing Gyokeres to Stamford Bridge.

But as for now, everything is pointing towards the 25-year-old being the priority for Chelsea ahead of the summer transfer window.

Whether it is Osimhen, Gyokeres or someone else, it seems pretty likely that the club will bring in a new centre-forward ahead of the 2024/25 season. They have really struggled this term, currently sitting 11th in the Premier League table, so could do with some more firepower in the team. Perhaps either Osimhen or Gyokeres will be the man to give them just that.
