Brighton believe that they hold an edge over Chelsea and other Premier League rivals in the race to sign a £35m star this summer.

Brighton and Chelsea have conducted a lot of business together in recent years, but they could now be going head-to-head for a transfer target.

Blues stars such as Moises Caicedo, Robert Sanchez and Marc Cucurella all moved to Stamford Bridge from the Seagulls. English manager Graham Potter, who’s long gone from the dugout, also made the same move, along with other coaches and staff.

Who’s going to come out on top in this particular transfer saga?

Brighton believe have the edge in transfer race

TEAMtalk claims that Brighton are the latest Premier League club to join the race for Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville.

It is understood that Chelsea, Liverpool and Fulham have already been looking at the 22 year old Championship attacker this summer.

The report says that Brighton think they have the edge over rival buyers because they can offer Summerville a clear pathway to first-team football in the Premier League. Apparently, they think the Dutch winger has ‘huge potential’ and could even be sold for a huge transfer fee further down the line.

TEAMtalk’s report adds that Summerville is happy at Leeds, so he won’t be trying to force a move away from Elland Road.

TEAMtalk previously reported that Leeds are likely to hold out for £35m before selling Summerville in this upcoming window.

Crysencio Summerville could tear up the Premier League

Summerville score 21 goals and made 10 assists last season for Leeds across all competitions. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to get his side over the line for promotion as they lost in the Championship play-off final to Southampton.

The left-winger tormented defences last year with his pace and trickery, plus he’s clinical around the box.

The Chelsea Chronicle has no doubt the young forward is ready to return to the top division, but is he good enough for the Chelsea XI?

Described as “unbelievable” by Dan James (LUTV), Summerville feels like a reasonable punt at £35m for any Premier League club.

However, Chelsea are pretty stacked on the left wing. The likes of Raheem Sterling, Mykhailo Mudryk and Christopher Nkunku can all play on the left of attack.
