Chelsea could now speed up the sale of one first-team player after a development this weekend.

While Blues fans are likely to be excited about potential incomings at Stamford Bridge this summer, both on the coaching and playing side of things, there may be some exits to deal with as well.

Everything in the media points towards Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca being named Chelsea’s next head coach. Journalist Simon Johnson reports via X that Maresca’s appointment may be confirmed by the club on Monday.

Apparently, one Chelsea player may be sold and miss out on this new era under Maresca.

Chelsea player’s sale could now speed up

The Guardian has explained that Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah may now be sold quickly after developments regarding Tosin Adarabioyo.

It is explained that Chelsea are confident of beating Newcastle United to sign 26-year-old centre-back Adarabioyo, who’s out of contract at Fulham this summer and available on a free transfer.

The Guardian’s report adds that Adarabioyo’s suspected arrival could ‘hasten’ the departure of Blues defender Chalobah.

It is claimed that Chelsea could recoup around £25m for Chalobah amid interest from Manchester United.

Trevoh Chalobah exit would be gutting but Tosin Adarabioyo signing makes sense

In terms of Adarabioyo, he’s a proven defender in the Premier League that is a fair signing on a free transfer if completed.

If Chelsea have backed themselves into a corner over profit and sustainability rules, Chalobah could turn out being an unfair casualty by the sounds of it.

The Telegraph previously claimed that Chelsea are willing to listen to offer for £25m-rated centre-half Chalobah this summer. His roots to the academy would mean his sale would be pure profit.

Chalobah, 24, will definitely be a sore departure to take if it happens. The Adarabioyo deal means things could speed up now, too.

Speaking via BBC’s Match of the Day last year, Shaun Wright-Phillips hailed Chalobah as “superb” after a Premier League display . He has the quality to go carve out a top Premier League career elsewhere.
