Chelsea have been mentioned as a potential suitor for a £50m-rated player, but clubs will be making their move to sign him very quickly.
The Blues have acted fast so far in the summer transfer window, something they may need to do if they want their latest transfer target.
Chelsea have signed Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Tosin Adarabioyo, Marc Guiu and Omari Kellyman as new players already this summer.
It certainly going to be interesting to see how the squad shapes up under new head coach Enzo Maresca.
Chelsea have definite interest in signing Dani Olmo
According to The Mirror, Chelsea have shown a ‘concrete interest’ in signing RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo.
It is understood that the 26-year-old has a release clause in his Leipzig deal that expires next Monday.
The report says that it is expected clubs from both the Premier League and Spain will trigger the £50m release clause before it runs out.
If teams try to sign him beyond the deadline, German Bundesliga side Leipzig are like to demand between £60m and £70m.
There’s no suggestion that Chelsea are definitely one of the clubs that will make an approach for Olmo, but at the very least he’s in their sights.
Spain star is lighting up Euro 2024
If Olmo’s suitors are watching his performances at the Euros, they should be straight on the phone to Leipzig to try wrap up a transfer before Monday.
For £50m, the versatile Spain international could be great value for money.
Olmo regularly plays on the wing for his club side, but he really thrives in a central No 10 position for his country.
He’s scored in each of the last-16, quarter finals and semi-finals to help Spain book their spot in the final of Euro 2024.
Described as an “outstanding footballer” by Marco Rose (Bundesliga website), Olmo is a technical playmaker with a real eye for goal as well.
