Chelsea recalled quite a few players who were out on loan during the January transfer window.
That includes Cesare Casadei, who returned to Stamford Bridge and remained with Mauricio Pochettino‘s squad.
A report from The Athletic has now claimed that the reason why Chelsea recalled the midfielder is because they were unhappy with the amount of minutes he was getting at Leicester City.
Casadei still managed to make 25 appearances for Leicester, while he has only played 17 minutes of Premier League football since returning to west London.
It has now been claimed that he could leave Chelsea on loan once again in the next transfer window.
Chelsea unhappy with how Cesare Casadei’s loan spell at Leicester went
Chelsea’s unhappiness is bizarre. The view that Casadei was not getting enough minutes at the King Power Stadium is not valid.
Casadei is a young player still adapting to English football, yet Enzo Maresca handed the Italian 14 starts in the Championship.

Following his return to Chelsea, Casadei has not been named in Pochettino’s first XI once. With that being the case, what was actually the point of the club recalling the former Inter Milan man?
Casadei was getting game time at Leicester and in a side who could win the Championship this season.
Casadei may not have been starting every game, but he was still clearly in Maresca’s plans. The Foxes boss was shocked when Chelsea made the decision to recall the 21-year-old.
It cannot be undone now. Casadei just has to get through what is left of this season and then hope he gets a full year out on loan next term. It is crucial at his age that he is playing, and at Chelsea it does not look like that is going to happen. In the summer, then, it would be good for Casadei to find another club for the 2024/25 season.
