Chelsea allowed David Datro Fofana to join Burnley in January after recalling him from his loan at Union Berlin.
David Datro Fofana is now thriving at Turf Moor but could have easily ended up at Sevilla instead.
According to Estadio Deportivo, a loan rule that limits how many players a club can send on loan abroad is what prevented the striker from joining Sevilla.
However, the same outlet claims that the Spanish club are still keeping an eye on him ahead of the summer transfer window.
Fofana recently scored an incredible goal in Burnley’s 2-2 draw with West Ham United. Before that, he even caught the eye of Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.
Sevilla still looking at David Datro Fofana
Sevilla must be impressed with what they are seeing from Fofana at Burnley.
Three goals in seven appearances for a 21-year-old with little Premier League experience is very promising, not to mention one of those goals was ridiculous.

At this rate, though, Chelsea may actually have to consider keeping hold of Fofana in a potential blow to Sevilla.
Mauricio Pochettino does not have too many options up front right now. The club sent Armando Broja to Fulham on loan at the end of the January transfer window and he could be sold in the summer.
If that happens, it would leave Nicolas Jackson as the only recognised striker at Stamford Bridge.
Jackson has not done a bad job this season, recently scoring his ninth Premier League goal of the campaign. The Senegal international alone, however, is unlikely to be enough to get Chelsea back into the Champions League.
So if the Blues do not sign a new centre-forward in the summer and sell Broja, then it would probably be wise for them to keep hold of Fofana, though it could halt his development if he is forced to take up a deputy role.
