Reports have claimed that Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has been really impressed by one player in particular in recent months.
According to Caught Offside, the boss has been pleased with the impact goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic has made since coming into the side this season.
With the plethora of additions made by the club over the last summer transfer window, one of the names who did not stand out on paper was Petrovic.
This is because it was expected by many that he was brought in to play the role of deputy to fellow signing Robert Sanchez.
This was certainly the case for the majority of the first half of the season, with the Spaniard hardly blowing anyone away with his performances.
An injury suffered by the goalkeeper though allowed Petrovic his chance to play at last in December, and since then he has started every game possible.

This has coincided with some extremely positive displays between the sticks, even in games where they have been heavily defeated.

A number of pundits have now gone on to call for him to remain in the side even when Sanchez returns to full fitness.
This moment is seeming to approach, with Pochettino commenting that his fellow goalkeeper had returned to training.
He was expected to be part of the squad one way or another for the trip to Manchester City, however a personal issue arose that stopped him.
Even if that is resolved, there is no guarantee at all he walks straight back into the side, with it being claimed that Pochettino has become a big fan of the 24-year-old.
It would be fair for him to start the club’s biggest game of the season at the weekend against Liverpool in the EFL Cup final. He already has a great performance against Jurgen Klopp’s men under his belt.
