Tottenham Hotspur are considering entering the race for one key Chelsea target this summer.
Chelsea have heavily scouted Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams and are interested in signing him, according to the Daily Mirror.
However, the same outlet has claimed that Tottenham could enter the fray for Williams, who has a £43m release clause.
Another problem for Chelsea is that they need to be cautious of profit and sustainability rules, the Daily Mirror has also reported.
The Blues made a £90m loss for 2022/23, which could impact their transfer plans this summer. It has already been claimed that the above could cause the club to cool their interest in Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.
Tottenham considering challenging Chelsea for Nico Williams’ signature
It is only normal for there to be more than one big Premier League club interested in Williams.
The Spain international is a young and talented winger with a lot of potential. This season, he has come up with nine goal contributions in 22 league appearances.

Williams is also the leader in his squad for key passes and dribbles made per game, recording averages of 1.6 and 2.6 respectively (WhoScored).
For £43m as well, in this day and age, that could be great business. At 21, Williams has time to develop into an even scarier winger.
Hopefully Chelsea can get a deal sorted, but because of profit and sustainability rules and Tottenham’s interest, signing the Athletic star may not be that simple.
Spurs’ threat could be a real one, with Ange Postecoglou’s men potentially being a Champions League side next season, while Chelsea may end up with no European football at all. The Blues are also not in the position to just throw around money anymore either it seems, so they may not be able to financially outmuscle their London rivals here.
The race for Williams, then, could be quite an exciting one.
