Reports have now shared what friends of Todd Boehly have been saying about him after the criticism he has faced since taking over at Chelsea.

According to The Telegraph, they describe him as a character who is more concerned with the rough patch for the club than what people think of him personally.

Boehly has certainly been a divisive figure since coming into the club nearly two years ago to take over.

Anyone taking over from Roman Abramovich was likely going to struggle in the popularity contest, although the American has taken steps to address this.

He has notably bankrolled the club for over a billion pounds over three transfer windows, smashing their record fee twice to bring in Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo in an attempt to strengthen the first team squad.

Nothing seems to have gone right for him so far though, and this has often led to criticism from fans and pundits alike.

The magnitude of comments made about him would likely get a lot of people down, however people close to the co-owner have now claimed that he is far more concerned with the reputation of the club right now, rather than his own.

What friends of Boehly have said about him

The Blues look set to again miss out on European football at the rate they are going, with them languishing in the mid-table places.

They did have a chance to qualify via the League Cup, however Mauricio Pochettino’s lack of trophy in England continued at Wembley last month.

They do still have the chance to win the FA Cup, although the magnitude of clubs left in that competition would make that a difficult task.

With that being said, they do have a quarter-final tie against lower league opposition, albeit the best team in that division in Leicester City.

Boehly has only been seen sporadically at Chelsea games this season, however another appearance at Wembley would surely see him in attendance again.
