Reports have shared what Thiago Silva did straight after teammate Cole Palmer was replaced for Chelsea during last night’s game.
According to The Athletic, he was keen to show his appreciation for the England international when he was afforded a rare standing ovation from the Stamford Bridge crowd.
Palmer was instrumental in a 3-2 win over Newcastle United last night, as they closed the ground on fellow sides pushing for European football next season.
His shot at goal was beautifully directed goalwards by Nicolas Jackson, who himself has put together a run of three goals in as many games for the club.
However, there was no doubt it was the 21-year-old had scored the second goal, spotting the position of his opposing goalkeeper before firing into the near corner.
What Silva did after Palmer sub
With them two goals up late on, Mauricio Pochettino felt he could make the rare decision to bring Palmer off for Cesare Casadei.
While the crowd were keen to show their praise for the Englishman, one of his teammates made an effort to do so too.

Silva, who was an unused substitute last night, made sure to pat him on the back to show appreciation for what was a match-winning performance.
Given it is Palmer’s first season as a regular professional, the fact he continues to top stats such as goals and assists for them this season is an immense achievement.
With England manager Gareth Southgate in attendance, it now feels like it would be more of a surprise if he wasn’t selected to be in the squad that travels to Germany for the Euros.
He will be looking to maintain his form as the Blues look to book another trip to Wembley for the semi-finals of the FA Cup, with them facing Leicester City at Stamford Bridge at the weekend.
