Reports have claimed that one Chelsea player is now open to leaving the club.

According to Football Transfers, Enzo Fernandez is now considering leaving Stamford Bridge after just over a year of being with the Blues.

Fernandez was briefly the club’s record signing after joining the club in January last year. However, that fee was quickly topped by the capture of Moises Caicedo from Brighton.

The aim looked clear – to pair the two together and form on paper one of the most impressive midfields in world football.

While they have not exactly been complete failures, it would be fair to say that they have not lived up to the hype that surrounded two players with their price tags.

For anyone who saw Fernandez play for Argentina in their World Cup winning campaign though, the quality was clear to see. He has also already been described as ‘world-class’ for some of his performances.

The club as a whole have been on a downward spiral for the last two years now, and it is clear to see that a number of players are unhappy with the situation.

Now, it has been reported that Fernandez, one of their most promising players, is considering leaving the club. The report adds his agents are already in contact with other clubs.

The departure would be a huge blow to the club at this point, with them clearly putting a lot of faith in him to deliver based on the money spent on him.

However, it definitely could be said that manager Mauricio Pochettino could be utilising his skillset far better in games.

He has found himself playing potentially further forward than he may be strongest, and this seems to be limiting both his game as well as Caicedo’s.

A strong end to the season can be big for the Blues, however at this stage it remains unclear whether that will include Pochettino being in charge or not.
