One striker looks like he is starting to convince people at Chelsea ahead of the summer transfer window.

Chelsea will be expected to sign a new centre-forward, as Nicolas Jackson continues to blow hot and cold.

The 22-year-old has reached double figures for goals this season but once again missed good chances to score in his side’s humiliating 5-0 loss to Arsenal last night.

Journalist Graeme Bailey told The Chelsea Chronicle yesterday that the Blues plan to make Jackson their second-choice striker behind Napoli’s Victor Osimhen or another centre-forward next term.

£69m striker ticking the boxes for Chelsea

Aside from Osimhen, Chelsea also appear to be looking at another No.9 who supporters of the club will know well.

According to journalist Simon Phillips, Chelsea are watching AS Roma’s Tammy Abraham and some at Stamford Bridge believe he ticks a few key boxes.

On his Substack, he wrote: “Some at the club believe that he ticks some of the key boxes — Premier League proven, decent goal record for Chelsea, home grown player, and wouldn’t be expensive.”

Phillips also stated that “sources believe” the 26-year-old would be open to returning to Stamford Bridge.

Because of a buy-back clause, Chelsea can re-sign Abraham for £69m after selling him to Roma back in 2021. Moving the England international on for £34m, he is one of their most expensive ever sales.

Could Chelsea sign Paulo Dybala instead of Tammy Abraham?

Chelsea have also been linked with Abraham’s Roma team-mate Paulo Dybala.

It has been claimed that the Blues are interested in Dybala as he waits to open up discussions with Roma over a new contract.

The 30-year-old’s current deal expires next summer and he is a top forward, so it would not be a shock if Chelsea ended up going for him instead of Abraham.

This season, Dybala has scored 12 goals and provided eight assists in 24 Serie A appearances.
