Enzo Fernandez walked away from Chelsea’s fantastic team win last night with most of the limelight.
Blues midfielder Enzo Fernandez, 23, scored a stunning free-kick in his side’s away win at Aston Villa yesterday.
There’s been more pressure building at Stamford Bridge because of poor league form, but Mauricio Pochettino’s men recorded a 3-1 victory at Villa Park in an FA Cup fourth round replay.
They’re in the bottom half of the Premier League table but are still competing in both domestic cup competitions. This includes the Carabao Cup final versus Liverpool later this month at Wembley Stadium.
Fernandez reacted to his FA Cup goal with a pretty memorable celebration, taking off his shirt and pointing to his name while lifting it in the air.
The 23-year-old’s recently been linked with a potential transfer exit, so we’re guessing his emotional celebration was a nod towards silencing those rumours. Football Transfers claimed earlier this week that Fernandez is considering leaving Chelsea after only a year in west London.
We’re not worried that we could lose the Argentine star, especially after last night’s reaction.

Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling applauded the phenomenal cup performance from his teammate.
Sterling wrote on his Instagram story: “Special, Enzo Fernandez.”
Enzo Fernandez against Aston Villa
On top of his epic celebration, Fernandez was a class act throughout the win over Villa.
We agree with Sterling that the South American star is “special”.
His season so far, like most of his teammates, has been up and down in terms of level of performances.
However, we’re really encouraged by how dominant the Blues midfield looked in midweek with Fernandez and Moises Caicedo playing closer together as a central pairing. Hopefully, we’ll get a lot more of that in the games coming up.
Fernandez is technically superb on the ball, combined with incredible vision and understanding for a youngster.
If Chelsea are to turn their season around, he’ll surely be at the heart of any success in the months ahead.
