Alan Shearer included Chelsea’s Axel Disasi in his latest Premier League Team of the Week after his eye-catching performance at the weekend.
The pundit was clearly super impressed by what he saw from Chelsea centre-back Axel Disasi in last Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Manchester City. He’s not the only one, too!
Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast this week, Gary Lineker and Micah Richards single out Disasi for being “fantastic” at the Etihad Stadium versus Man City.
The 25-year-old Blues defender was a colossus at the back. In fact, he made a mammoth 16 clearances in the Premier League match (WhoScored).
He should certainly be feeling very confident about his own game right now going into this weekend’s Carabao Cup final versus Liverpool at Wembley Stadium.

Disasi has been threatening for a little while to put in this kind of mega display in defence.
The £80,000-a-week centre-half (Spotrac) is winning over the supporters to become a big fan favourite at Stamford Bridge, with his aggression and passion very clear when he steps on the pitch.
We had some doubts over the Frenchman earlier in the season, especially when he was covering at right-back.
However, there’s a trust developing now that Disasi is putting in some very consistent performances as a leader in the heart of defence.
We’d like to add this new-look partnership alongside Levi Colwill at centre-back is one we hope the manager invests in moving forward, including in the cup final on Sunday afternoon. There appears to be a real great balance between them as a defensive duo with their combination of styles!
