Steve Nicol has not held back with his assessment of one Chelsea player after his side’s 4-2 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers yesterday.
Mykhailo Mudryk came on in the second half and actually provided the assist for Thiago Silva’s consolation goal.
However, Steve Nicol, speaking on ESPN FC, has questioned what Mudryk actually brings to this Chelsea side.
His assist against Wolves was only his second in the Premier League this season. He has also scored just three goals in the top flight.

Steve Nicol not sure what Mykhailo Mudryk excels at
In a damning assessment, Nicol suggested that pace is the only thing Mudryk has in his locker.
Discussing the winger after the Wolves game, the Liverpool legend said: “Look at Mudryk. €70m right, can somebody please tell me, other than being an Olympic sprinter, in football terms, what is he good at?”
Jamie O’Hara has also not minced his words when speaking about Mudryk.

Is Mykhailo Mudryk really just an “Olympic sprinter”?
The above may sound harsh, but as long as Mudryk continues to get things wrong in the final third, that is how he is going to be viewed: a footballer who is all pace and nothing else.
Fortunately, the Ukrainian only turned 23 last month. He has time to develop and start adding more goals and assists to his game.
Do that, with the pace he already has, Mudryk could become an extremely dangerous player for Chelsea. Until then, you would expect there to be more scrutiny, as the former Shakhtar Donetsk man is still an attacker at the end of the day that cost the club a lot of money.
There is an expectation for him to deliver in the box and he has just not done that since arriving at Stamford Bridge in the 2023 January transfer window.
