Chelsea are now only hours away from facing Liverpool in the League Cup final.

Blues head coach Mauricio Pochettino has never won a trophy as a manager in this country, but he’ll get the chance to end that unfortunate record on Sunday afternoon at Wembley Stadium.

His side beat Brighton, Blackburn Rovers, Newcastle United and Middlesbrough en route to this weekend’s Carabao Cup final.

Next, they’ll need to overcome an in-form Liverpool team that are still alive in four competitions this season.

If you’re wondering what Chelsea’s boss is doing on Saturday the day before a cup final, he’s been spotted down at one of the club’s Under-18s games this afternoon.

Chelsea Youth, a very established account for youth football, shared on X today that there were some senior figures in the stands watching the Blues youth team today.

Pochettino, along with Chelsea’s co-sporting director Paul Winstanley, were spotted on Saturday.

They ended up seeing Chelsea beat Aston Villa 2-0 in an Under-18s Premier League fixture thanks to late goals from Donnell McNeilly and Shaun Wade.

Relaxed Mauricio Pochettino

We’re guessing Chelsea’s manager is relaxed before a really important cup final tomorrow.

Pochettino’s had a full week of preparation with his squad of players because they’ve not played since an eye-catching 1-1 draw away at Manchester City last Saturday.

As for Liverpool, they played as recently as Wednesday night, when they came from behind to win 4-1 against Luton Town.

So, can Chelsea’s players execute the plans drawn up this week for the final.

There’s evidence this season that Pochettino can set up his Chelsea side well, especially against the better opponents. You’ve got to be a bit concerned that lost heavily versus Liverpool as recently as 31 January.
