People close to Reece James are reluctant to put a timeframe on when the Chelsea captain will return from his injury.
That is according to journalist Bobby Vincent.
Reece James, 24, hasn’t played since early December because of a hamstring injury.
There’s been no clear indication of when the Blues defender will be fit again.
The Daily Mail previously claimed in December that James could miss three to four months with his latest setback.
He’s had everyone talking today after his post on social media. James uploaded via his Instagram story on Thursday an image of him putting on his football boots.
Bobby Vincent, who works as a journalist for Football.London, reported via his own social media today an update on Chelsea’s James.
Vincent wrote on X: “On this, understand Reece James is progressing well and is on schedule. Those around him, though, are reluctant (understandably) to put a specific timeframe on when he will return.”

It’s great to hear the James recovery is going according to plan, but supporters will need to wait for the concrete facts on his return date.
With his injury record, we just hope he’s not rushed back too soon and that he gets better luck with injuries.
James has proven in recent years that he’s as good as any right-back in the world when he’s fit and firing. We do feel like some fans are running out of patience with him, though.
Our saving grace this season is that Malo Gusto, 20, is a serious deputy for Chelsea at right-back.
