Chelsea take on Tottenham Hotspur in a London derby at Stamford Bridge tomorrow.
Both teams need the points and for different reasons.
Chelsea are chasing down a Europa League spot, while Tottenham still hope to secure Champions League qualification.
The last time these two teams played each other, the game finished 4-1 to Chelsea.
Nicolas Jackson scored a hat-trick on the night, but the Blues were helped by the two red cards Tottenham received.
Chelsea star desperate to play against Tottenham tomorrow
A London derby in front of their home fans, every member of Mauricio Pochettino‘s squad will want to play against Spurs.
That includes the most expensive signing in Chelsea’s history, Moises Caicedo, who recently expressed the above.
“It’s a massive derby,” the 22-year-old midfielder was quoted as saying by Chelsea’s official website. “I hope I am going to play and it would be amazing to play against them and show our football.
“Win that game and it would be amazing for us.”
Will Moises Caicedo start against Tottenham?
Chelsea spent more than £100m on Caicedo. There is no way that he would be left out for a game of this magnitude.
Pochettino is not spoilt for choice in the midfield area right now either. Enzo Fernandez will miss the match after he underwent surgery.
Fernandez’s absence means that Caicedo is likely to line up alongside Conor Gallagher in the middle of the park.
Gallagher played a key role in his side’s 2-2 draw with Aston Villa last Saturday, curling the ball into the back of the Villans’ net to ensure that Pochettino’s men returned to west London with a point.
You would now expect Gallagher and Caicedo to be Chelsea’s starting midfield partnership for the remaining games of this season.
After Spurs, the Blues have another London derby at Stamford Bridge, this time against West Ham United. With the Hammers also competing for a European spot, it is a game that Chelsea have to win.
