Singer Amy Sheppard reveals the pressures she faced to be thin in candid interview: ‘I was being photoshopped without my permission’
Amy Sheppard opened up on The Jess Rowe Big Talk Show on Wednesday about the pressures she faced to be thin at the height of her career.
The Australian singer, 32, shot to fame in 2014 as a member of the band Sheppard, which she started with siblings George and Emma.
When they became international sensations for their hit single Geronimo, Amy said she started receiving ‘subtle messages’ to lose weight.
‘We were in LA and Europe and doing photo shoots… I was being styled. I was being photographed. I was being photoshopped without my permission,’ she said.
‘All of these things really play into your self-confidence… It’s just the messaging. The subtle messaging. You look at all the other pop stars and they’re tiny.’

It comes just a few months after Amy shared candid photos to social media in which she posed in a bikini following her weight gain.
The side by side images depicted the flattering bikini photo the Geronimo hitmaker ‘posted’ and the more realistic picture that she ‘deleted’.
In both photos, the blue-haired beauty wore the same animal striped black and white bikini as she enjoyed a day out at the beach.

‘Posted vs. deleted. You know the story: same person, same day,’ the singer wrote in her caption.
‘There is nothing wrong with either photo but one is curated and the other is candid. Next time you scroll through your favourite influencer’s feed keep this in mind.’
In another side by side photo set, Amy posted a photo of herself before and after her weight gain.

‘It’s dinner out with my beautiful friends; it’s a romantic walk to get ice cream with my partner; it’s saying YES to new foods when traveling.
‘It’s feeling satisfied every day instead of deprived and irritated every day.
‘This extra weight is my life, and there’s no way I could ever trade it for a tiny pair of jeans again.’
