Season two, episode seven of And Just Like That… saw Carrie Bradshaw reunite with her cuckolded ex fiance Aidan Shaw for a romantic Valentine’s day rendezvous – but fans slammed the ‘twisted’ decision to bring the pair together again.
Still reeling from the death of her true love Mr Big (Chris Noth) who she memorably chose over Aidan (John Corbett), a lonely Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) reached out to the furniture designer – now divorced and living in Virginia.
After sending an email entitled ‘hey stranger’ in last week’s episode, Carrie revealed during lunch with Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) that Aidan- now divorced and living in Virginia – would be in New York City for a meeting and had asked her for dinner on Valentine’s Day.
An excited Charlotte exclaimed: ‘A girlfriend would be letting him know [it was Valentine’s Day]. So the way I see it is either a.) he knows, and he’s asked you to dinner on Valentine’s Day, or b.) he doesn’t know, and he doesn’t have a girlfriend.
Carrie – who shared a clandestine kiss with Aidan behind Big’s back during their last meeting in 2010’s Sex and the City 2 – inadvertently waited for Aidan at the wrong restaurant.

When she realized her error, she found him waiting outside on the sidewalk. After a romantic dinner together, they took a taxi back to Carrie’s apartment.
A reflective Aidan began having second thoughts as he reminisced on their messy break-up and him renovating her apartment.
He said: ‘At the restaurant, I thought how great… We’re back where we started. But this is where we ended, with the f***ing wall I couldn’t break through, the floors… I redid. That’s all bad, and it’s all in there.’
‘I’m never going in there again.’
A somber Carrie said: ‘I thought it felt too easy too, I understand. I guess time doesn’t heal everything. No matter how much you want it to.’
As Aidan began to walk away, he turned back around and said: ‘F*** it … This is New York. They have hotels, right?’ before kissing her passionately.
Carrie’s voiceover states: ‘And just like that, Aidan and I were back on the same page.’

Others berated Aidan for not ‘blocking’ Carrie after she messed him around numerous times, writing: ‘The Real Aidan would’ve never met up with Carrie are you kidding it took Big to DIE for him to be first choice Omg.’

I always thought he deserved better.

The second season of reboot And Just Like That… is currently airing with Kim Cattrall set to make a shock return as Samantha Jones after years of feuding with SJP.
The actress, 66, who played the iconic man-hungry publicist in six seasons of the show and two movies, detailed how a groveling call from network Max (formerly HBO) and her demand to bring back designer Patricia Field sealed the deal for her return.
Speaking on The View, the giddy star said: ‘It’s very interesting to get a call from the head of HBO saying, “What can we do?” and I went “hmmm, let me get creative”.
‘And one of those things was to get Patricia Field back and I thought if I’m gonna come back, I gotta come back with that kind of Samantha style, I gotta push it, and we did!’
Field, who was responsible for the many boundary-breaking outfits on the original show run, was unable to return as costume designer for AJLT due to her commitments on Emily In Paris, with Molly Rogers and Danny Santiago dressing the stars for the reboot.

According to Variety, Cattrall will return for only one ‘cliffhanger’ scene, which she shot on March 22 in New York City, without seeing or speaking with stars SJP, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis. The scene was also shot without AJLT showrunner Michael Patrick King.
In the scene, Samantha, who has moved to London, will have a phone conversation with Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw.
The New York Post also revealed that Cattrall’s cameo was so secretive that her name did not even appear on the call sheet for the day, leaving people stunned at her presence.
An insider said show staffers were ‘definitely shocked, very intrigued on how they’re gonna write this in – and very excited. She said she’d never do it! She said she’d never come back!’
It was claimed her scene was filmed in a town car in a parking garage near Silvercup Studios in Queens.
Sex And The City designer Patricia Field returned to dress Cattrall for the scene. AJLT’s second season premiered on June 22 on Max.
Samantha did feature in AJLT season one – but only over text message as Carrie repeatedly tried to repair their friendship. AJLT saw Carrie claim Samantha had cut her off and moved to London – due to fury at the writer firing her as a publicist – in a storyline Cattrall slammed for being inauthentic to the character.
