BBC Breakfast is pulled off BBC One in major schedule shake-up as third presenter is missing from show

BBC Breakfast has been pulled off BBC One in a major schedule shake-up.

The morning show normally airs from 6am to 9:15am each day on BBC One.

But on Thursday, viewers were told the programme had been dropped from the main channel and fans had to cross over to BBC Two for their helping of BBC Breakfast.

This was so the channel could televise the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.

Moreover, presenter Charlie Stayt, 60, was not on the show.

Instead, host Naga Munchetty, 47, presented alongside Ben Thompson, 42.

Ben said: ‘We’re jumping over from @BBCOne to @BBCTwo now, where we’ll be with you until 9am…. to make way for the Women’s World Cup.

‘Find your remote, and join us.’

Jon Kay, 53, who presents BBC Breakfast with Sally Nugent, 51, from Mondays to Wednesdays, is also off air, having taken two weeks off for a family holiday.

And weather presenter Carol Kirkwood, 61, has also been absent from the show all week.

Last month, star Matt Taylor, 47, took a cheeky swipe at Naga after she appeared to be bored over his conversation on the show.

The Weatherman, who was filling in for Carol, appeared in the studio alongside Naga and co-star Charlie, to present the day’s weather.

Ahead of his report, he spoke to Charlie about sunrises, with Charlie referencing the ‘glaze’ you see when the early morning sun comes up.

However, noticing Naga wasn’t amused by the conversation, Matt quickly turned to the presenter and remarked: ‘Talk about glaze. Someone’s glazing over. Shall we get on with the forecast?’

Naga did indeed look noticeably relaxed as she propped her arm up in the red sofa and looked away from the two men as they talked.

Seemingly not fazed by his dig, Naga turned back to him and quipped back: ‘You’re very observant, Matthew’, as she playfully mocked his apparent ‘boring’ segment.

The exchange was met in good humour however, with Matt then launching into his weather report.

BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One and iPlayer.
