• Corrie icon Charlie Lawson is still being chased for thousands of pounds

Coronation Street legend Charlie Lawson is still being chased for thousands of pounds after his posh deli went bust – and now could be dragged to court.

Official documents have revealed that legal action is being prepared against the actor to recoup the money owed.

Lawson, 63, who played Jim McDonald in the ITV soap, opened Prestbury’s Farm Shop in Cheshire with his partner Debbie Stanley in 2010.

He was often seen behind the counter serving artisan cheese, meat and game.

But in 2018, a voluntary liquidator was appointed after the outfit went bust and accounts at Companies House showed the business had equipment assets of just over £700 with only £24.91 in the bank, while owing £37,000.

And a report filed this month has revealed that the firm liquidating the company is struggling to be paid.

The document reveals: ‘During the period of this report, no further monies have been received in respect of the payment of the costs of liquidation.

‘To date, the sum of £33,160 has been paid in this regard and the balance of £1,340 is being pursued. As a response has not been received from the guarantor, solicitors have been instructed to collect the amount owed.’

A previous report revealed that cash was owed to a turkey farm, wine suppliers, an energy company and firms as far afield as France.

The Northern Ireland-born actor has had financial troubles previously.

In 2001 he had to declare himself bankrupt, owing nearly £200,000 to the Inland Revenue and finance firms.

MailOnline has contacted the star’s representatives for comment.
