Danny Dyer is returning to documentaries as his next major role since quitting EastEnders is revealed
Danny Dyer is heading back to the small screen with a major new documentary series.
The actor and presenter, whose last scenes as Mick Carter in EastEnders aired at Christmas, has been busy filming a two-part Channel 4 series titled 21st Century Man.
The Sun report that the film will see Danny explore what it means to be a man in modern Britain, as he explores topics including toxic masculinity, gender roles and men’s mental health.
Danny previously presented the popular Bravo documentaries The Real Football and Danny Dyer’s Deadliest Men.

A show insider said of his new Channel 4 project: ‘This will be new ground for Danny and viewers will see a whole new side to him.
‘He’ll still possess his usual bravado, but these are serious issues he’s exploring and he conducts himself accordingly. The look into toxic masculinity is particularly deep. It’s a hugely sensitive documentary all round.’
It’s believed the star has filmed scenes with male and female victims of domestic abuse as well as heading to a soft-play centre to meet families affected by trauma.
The documentary will air on Channel 4 later this year. MailOnline has contacted Channel 4 for comment.
Danny has thrown himself back into work since quitting his decade-long stint in EastEnders.
He presents a new game show on Netflix, titled Cheat while he’s also completed work on Channel 5 thriller Heat.
Heat, which began filming in Victoria, Australia last year, sees two families who are long-time friends visit a secluded home for a summer holiday during Australia’s bushfire season.
As well as the four-part action thriller, Danny has signed up to host a travel show for E4 with his Love Island star daughter Dani Dyer.
The actor’s final scenes as Mick Carter aired on Christmas Day, and saw the Queen Vic landlord mysteriously lost at sea after plunging into the water to save his estranged wife Linda.
Danny has revealed that if his career goes ‘t**s up’ he may head back to Albert Square in a few years time, joking he’d arrive back in Walford ‘covered in seaweed’ following a salty exit.
The soap actor added that ‘does miss’ many of the stars he worked with on the show, and he ‘loves them dearly.’
