EastEnders’ fan favourite dog is diagnosed with a worrying brain tumour – as owners urge viewers to donate to a life-saving operation

Fans of EastEnders are being rallied to lend their financial support to a previous star of the show, dog Cyrus, as he battles health woes.

The Bullmastiff Staffordshire Terrier portrayed beloved pup Bronson on the show back in 2017 – belonging to the Taylor family.

But now, Cyrus has been diagnosed with a brain tumour and needs a life-saving radiotherapy to shrink the tumour.

His owner, Caroline King, is hoping to raise the amount with a GoFundMe page, where she has a goal of £10,000 for the treatments.

Since creating the crowd-funding page this week, where she details the heartbreaking ordeal, the owner has already raised over £1000.

Explaining that she has ‘exhausted’ all of her own funds on getting Cryus’ diagnosis, Caroline shared that the best treatment for the pup is at a specialist centre in Edinburgh.

She wrote on the page: ‘Hi my name is Caroline mummy to this beautiful boy Cyrus ❤️ Cy has touched many hearts in his life playing bullseye on stage in Oliver then taking himself to the big screen becoming Bronson in Eastenders making us all so very proud.

‘He however sadly suffered a seizure last June followed by more this month, prompting me to have tests done including a brain mri which has heartbreakingly revealed a tumour. A number of options have been discussed but seems the gold standard radiotherapy to help shrink the tumour would be in Edinburgh, much more high tec equipment being more precise and less time and stress on my boy.

‘I hate asking for help never have before but have exhausted all my funds on tests so far I’m not prepared to just give up on him he’s my world any help any share would mean so so much ❤️ ‘

While she also added to The Sun this week: ‘It’s a race against time. The thought of losing him is just heartbreaking.

‘I just pray people can take them into their hearts,’ continued Caroline.

With donations ranging from £5 to almost £500 in the first three days since beginning the page, Cyrus could already be on the way to treatment, but still has a long way to go.

Also hoping to bring in more donations, Caroline’s son Daniel has arranged an online raffle via social media – with all proceeds going to the fund.

With prizes such as an Xbox One, boxing sessions and even a luxurious haircut, Olaplex treatment and blowdry – Daniel has reached out via social media for more prize donations.

Back in 2017, it was claimed that EastEnders replaced Cyrus for another dog while he was on sick leave, axing him from the show for good.

The furry friend was taking time off of the soap for a knee operation when Caroline said she received a phone call dismissing the dog from the role after his second-in-command proved better at ‘waiting’ during filming.

Another dog took over the role of Bronson up until 2021, before passing away on-screen and leaving the Taylor family heartbroken.

But casting agency 1st Choice Animals assured worried fans on Twitter that the dog, thought to be named Kevin, was happy and healthy in real life – despite his on-screen demise.
