Jeopardy! fans did not hold back their scorn after catching Monday night’s episode of one of the longest-running game shows, now in its 39th season.

One of the two rotating hosts – four-time Emmy nominee Mayim Bialik – introduced a bizarre new mash-up category during the Double Jeopardy round called ‘Let’s Make a Movie Crossover!’ which left all three contestants scratching their heads.

The first clue, for $1200, read: ‘You stay classy, Kali! A 2004 San Diego news anchorman ‘&’ a 1984 Indiana Jones title structure.’

No one used their buzzer and the 47-year-old neuroscientist revealed it was ‘Ron Burgundy and The Temple of Doom,’ and one contestant audibly scoffed.

The second clue, for $1600, read: ‘An Alan Rickman “Die Hard” villain “wants those detonators” from a title Great Dane of 2002!’

Contestant Mary Kate Gleidt, a nonprofit director from Missouri, answered: ‘Hans Gruber Beethoven.’

When Mayim indicated the answer was ‘Hans Gruber and Scooby Doo,’ Mary replied: ‘That’s bad.’

Even the returning champ Ben Goldstein, a content marketing specialist from Michigan, responded: ‘No.’

The third contestant Jonathan Belford, a TV researcher from Texas, was in the red and didn’t even qualify to compete in the Final Jeopardy round.

Bialik’s final clue read: ‘In 2022 Jeff Bezos awarded her $100M to give to charitable causes because “she gives with her heart”‘ and the answer was Dolly Parton.

Mary wound up losing her $100 guessing Oprah Winfrey and Ben lost $1K for guessing Lady Gaga, which left him with $9,000 ($15,198 combined with Friday’s winnings).

And with 19 missed answers, it wound up being the second lowest scoring episode of the entire season and the fan reaction was brutal.

‘That movie category was horrendous. Not even a mashup or a “pun.” Just two random things. Awful,’ Twitter user @absoluteworst11 blasted.
