John Travolta and Leah Remini leads celebrity tributes to Lisa Marie Presley after her death

Celebrity tributes poured in on Thursday following news that Lisa Marie Presley had died aged 54 after suffering ‘full cardiac arrest’ at her Calabasas home Thursday.

Tom Hanks, Tom’s wife Rita Wilson, John Travolta, her ex Nicolas Cage and actress Leah Remini were among the stars who expressed their heartbreak on social media.

Lisa Marie’s famous father Elvis Presley died of a heart attack in 1977 at the age of 42, while her late son Benjamin Keough, 27, died by suicide in July 2020.  

In a joint statement shared to Instagram, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson wrote: ‘We are heartbroken over the loss of Lisa Marie Presley. Absolutely broken.’

In a lengthier post, Tom’s wife Rita Wilson also shared her devastation at the sad news of Lisa’s death, saying their ‘hearts’ were ‘broken’. 

The couple formed a close bond with the Presleys while promoting Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis biopic in which Tom starred as music manager Colonel Tom Parker and actor Austin Butler portrayed the King of Rock and Roll.

‘Tom and I had spent some time with the family during the Elvis movie promotional tour,’ she wrote, adding that ‘Lisa Marie was so honest and direct, vulnerable, in a state of anticipation about the movie’.

She went on: ‘She spoke so eloquently about her father, what the movie meant to her, that it was a celebration of her dad. She had her gorgeous daughters Finley and Harper with her who made us all laugh.’

Rita and Tom then revealed that Lisa Marie was ‘gracious’ enough to give them a private tour of Graceland and ‘she made it feel like home to us.’

The couple then urged fans to listen to Lisa Marie’s music as Rita described her ‘sultry voice’ as having ‘a power and tenderness, that I have always loved.’ 

She continued: ‘She was so gracious to us, Austin, Baz, and guests. If you haven’t heard her music please go listen. She had a sultry voice, a power and tenderness, that I have always loved.’

‘Our hearts and our prayers go out to Riley, Harper, Finley , Danny and Priscilla. A mother should never have to lose a child. Lisa Marie lost her precious son Benjamin, Priscilla loses her only daughter. It’s too much. Sending love to the family, prayers for peace and strength. Love, Rita and Tom,’ the post concluded.

Meanwhile, Grease star John stared a stunning portrait of Lisa Marie and penned: ‘Lisa baby girl, I’m so sorry. I’ll miss you but I know I’ll see you again. My love and heart goes out to Riley, Priscilla, Harper and Finley.’ 

Nicolas Cage, who married Lisa Marie in 2002 but they filed for divorce after 108 days, also paid tribute following her death.

He told The Hollywood Reporter: ‘This is devastating news. Lisa had the greatest laugh of anyone I ever met. She lit up every room, and I am heartbroken. I find some solace believing she is reunited with her son Benjamin.’ 

In a tweet, Leah Remini hoped that Lisa Marie is now ‘at peace resting with her son and father.’

‘I’m heartbroken over the passing of Lisa Marie Presley,’ Remini began. ‘Lisa did not have an easy life as some may think.’

The King Of Queens star concluded her post by writing that Lisa Marie’s ‘mom Priscilla, her three daughters Riley, Finley and Harper, are in my prayers’.

La Toya Jackson – whose brother Michael Jackson was famously married to Lisa Marie for two years – said that the late singer will ‘forever be in our hearts’ in a touching tweet.

‘We miss you Lisa!’ she began. ‘You will forever be in our hearts, I will never forget how much you shared the love you had for my brother with me, I thank you for being so honest #RIP’

The Jacksons Instagram account added: ‘Condolences to the family and loved ones of Lisa Marie Presley.’ 

Meanwhile, Cary Elwes, who co-wrote 2016’s comedy-drama film Elvis & Nixon, said he was ‘heartbreakingly sad’ at the news.

The Princess Bride star tweeted: ‘Rest In Peace, Lisa Marie. A sweet and gentle soul. We send our deepest, heartfelt condolences to Priscilla, Riley and her family and friends. Heartbreakingly sad.’

Songwriter Linda Thompson, who dated Elvis Presley, took to Instagram to share a statement in tribute to Lisa Marie, after previously saying she was ‘praying’ for someone she has held ‘near and dear to my heart’.

She simply wrote: ‘My heart is too heavy for words…’ 

Actress Julliette Lewis voiced her shock over the death of her friend, noting that she was ‘unable to write about it at this moment.’

‘We shared huge turning points in our lives. She taught me so much about resilience… I was 23… Frozen summers… Shared music, Friends. I am unable to write about it at this moment. Love to the girls ❤️,’ she penned, adding: ‘In power LMP’

Leann Rimes called the sudden death ‘heartbreaking’ and, similarly to Remini, hoped the embattled star is ‘at peace in her dad’s arms.’ 

She continued: ‘My heart goes out to her family too. too much grief in just a couple of years.’

After her appearance at the 80th Golden Globes earlier this week, the awards official Twitter page wrote: ‘We are incredibly saddened to hear of the passing of Lisa Marie Presley. 

‘She was an extremely talented Singer/Songwriter and a very welcome presence at the Golden Globes this past Tuesday. May you rest in peace.’

Billy Corgan, who collaborated with Lisa Marie early in her career, tweeted: ‘There is heartbreak and then there is sorrow. This would be sorrow and on more levels than I can count. 

‘Please send your prayers out for her family and children at this difficult time. I truly cannot find the words to express how sad this truly is. RIP.’

Billy Idol also took to Twitter to share his devastation, recalling when they performed together in the early 2000s.

He penned: ‘Sad news 2 hear of #LisaMariePresley passing .. she was very loving 2 me, in Memphis in the 90’s she gave me a viewing of the private sections of Graceland which was very special.

‘She was very lovely & we performed together at NYFW early 2000’s. RIP.’

Bette Midler shared her shock, saying: ‘Dear God, #LisaMariePresley has died; I’m in shock. So beautiful and only 54 years old; I can’t actually comprehend it.’

Diane Warren tweeted: ‘Oh no. This is such horrible news. The entire world is sending love and prayers to Priscilla and Lisa Marie’s children right now. May it give you strength.’

‘So sad that we’ve lost another bright star in Lisa Marie Presley. My condolences to her loved ones and multitude of fans,’ penned Academy Award-winner Octavia Spencer via Twitter. 

Sean Lennon, the son of Beatles star John and Yoko Ono, took to Twitter to pay tribute to Lisa Marie and reflected on meeting the ‘special person’.

He poignantly said he felt a ‘kinship’ with her, saying that ‘not many people know what it’s like’ to be the child of a famous star. 

He penned: ‘Got home late from seeing a show to hear the tragic news about Lisa Marie Presley. I had only met her a few times briefly. 

‘But I have to admit I felt a kinship with her. Not many people know what it’s like. I know she was a special person. My heart aches for Priscilla.’

Selling Sunset’s Chrishell Stause re-posted footage of Lisa Marie taken at this year’s Golden Globes which took place ‘just 48 hours’ before her death.

Marlee Martin paid tribute on Twitter, writing: ‘I had the chance to know @Cilla_Presley when I was on Dancing With the Stars and as a mother, I can’t imagine the pain she must be going through with the untimely passing of Lisa Marie. I have the image of little Lisa Marie growing up. RIP Lisa Marie Presley.’

Chucky star Jennifer Tilly said she is ‘so sad’ over Lisa Marie’s death and revealed that she was ‘just at Graceland yesterday’ where she snapped a photo of Elvis’ gravestone. 

The actress continued: ‘The guide was telling us that sometimes she would have dinners in the dining room, and once she had a party for her friends in the plane named after her. Rip sweet soul.’

Pink described Lisa Marie as ‘one of a kind’ along with being ‘funny as sh**, smart as a whip, sensitive, talented, witty, mean, loving, generous, judgmental but always right, loyal, and you adored your children.

‘My heart breaks for you and your beautiful family and your children. The world lost a rare gem today. May your soul rest in peace, friend,’ wrote the singer, who included a fun snap of herself beaming beside Lisa Marie. 

The Beach Boys founder Mike Love tweeted: ‘We are incredibly saddened and in shock about the passing of Lisa Marie Presley. Gone way too soon. 

‘We are sending our condolences and prayers to Priscilla and family. Please know that you are all loved so very much. RIP Lisa Marie. Peace & Love Mike & Jacquelyne Love.’

Sharing a snap of Lisa with Elvis, EastEnders star Jessie Wallace wrote: ‘Lisa Marie. The loss you have suffered through your life caused you so much pain. Rest in peace.’

RHONJ star Teresa Giudice re-shared a fan account post that included a red carpet photo of Lisa Marie along with the text: ‘Rest In Power [heart emoji]’ 

Real Housewives Of Miami star Lisa Hochstein shared ‘Rip’ to her Instagram Story.

News anchor Deborah Norville wrote on Twitter: ‘Deepest sympathies to the family of #LisaMariePresley Much too young to have died. 

‘Only 54, same age as my mother when she passed. Condolences to her mother and surviving children. Tell the people you love …that you love them.’

Actress Roma Downeya added: ‘So sad to hear this news #LisaMariePresley RIP.’

Designer Donatella Versace said she will ‘never forget the time’ she spent with Lisa Marie.

‘Your beauty and kindness shone so bright. Rest in peace Lisa Marie. We will never forget you,’ the fashion figure concluded.

In the fashion world, celebrity wardrobe stylist Rachel Zoe took to Instagram to share a Vogue cover alongside the caption: ‘A beautiful soul, Lisa Marie Presley has gone way to soon.

‘My love and deepest condolences are with her family and my heart is with you all. Rest In Peace with the angels.’

Earlier on Thursday, Presley was rushed to a hospital in critical condition and was said to be in a coma following a ‘full cardiac arrest’ shortly after she had been complaining about stomach pains, according to TMZ.

Her mother Priscilla, who was at her daughter’s side, said in a statement: ‘It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us.

‘She was the most passionate strong and loving woman I have ever known. We ask for privacy as we try to deal with this profound loss. Thank you for the love and prayers. At this time there will be no further comment,’ the statement continued.

Presley’s death comes just two days after she was pictured with her mom at the Golden Globe Awards at the Beverly Hills Hilton where Austin Butler won a Best Actor award for his portrayal of her father in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis.

Sources told TMZ that Presley was found unresponsive in her bedroom by her housekeeper and that her ex-husband, Danny Keough, who she has been living with, performed CPR until paramedics arrived at the house.

The source added that ‘someone administered epinephrine’ – more commonly known as adrenaline – at the scene at least one time in order to help Presley regain a pulse.

Epinephrine, or adrenaline, is administered to treat many life-threatening conditions such as cardiac arrests, asthma attacks and allergic reactions.

LA County Sheriff’s Department told Dailymail.com: ‘Deputies from Lost Hills Station responded to an assistance request call LA County Fire, near the 9500 block of Normandy Drive in Calabasas regarding a female adult, approximately 55, for a medical emergency/female not breathing.

‘The female adult was transported by LA County Fire Department to a local area hospital where they were released to the hospital’s care’.

They would not confirm if the person was Lisa Marie, who will turn 55 next month, what hospital the individual was transported nor what was administered.

They told the Hollywood Reporter the fire department responded and was able to get a pulse on the female before she was transported to West Hills hospital.

Pictures of Lisa Marie’s mother, Priscilla, 77, rushing to hospital an hour after news broke of her daughter’s medical emergency have emerged.

She was seen making a quick dash to the entrance of the hospital where her only daughter was being treated to be by her side.

Lisa Marie is a singer and songwriter and has three children, including actress Riley Keough, 33.

Days before her death at 54 following a cardiac arrest, appeared to be unsteady while being interviewed on the red carpet at the 2023 Golden Globes, where she attended to support the film Elvis.

In the clip, Presley turned to her friend Jerry Schilling, 80, and said ‘I’m gonna grab your arm’ as she was asked questions ahead of the event by Extra host Billy Bush.

She appeared to talk slowly and slurred her words while responding to questions about the film’s star Austin Butler, the aspects of the role he mastered, and the storms and flooding in Southern California

Bush predicted ‘a wonderful night for Elvis’ in the beginning of the interview, in which Lisa stood next to longtime friend Schilling, a talent manager who worked closely with Elvis.

Bush asked her if she had gotten to know Butler, at which point she told Schilling ‘I’m gonna grab your arm’ and locked her right arm with Schilling’s left arm.

In the chat, Lisa said that she thought Butler nailed the ‘characteristics [and] the talking without doing it like in a caricature way like it’s been done in the past.’

She added, ‘It’s kind of done in sort of a funny, joking way, the way [Elvis] spoke, but Austin actually got it and did it perfectly without making it comical.’

Schilling noted Butler ‘didn’t overdo’ aspects of his performance as Elvis.

Bush asked Lisa if she had lived in the Montecito-Santa Barbara area – which was battered earlier this week by storms and flooding – and she said she ‘did at one point’, noting that the results of the storm were ‘really awful.’

The interview wrapped up with Lisa telling Bush that Butler was making his way down the entrance.
