Kyle Sandilands reveals he ‘saved his son Otto’s life’ after the newborn almost choked on a baby rattle that has urgently been recalled
Kyle Sandilands has revealed how he saved his newborn son Otto’s life.
The 51-year-old radio host said he pulled a wooden baby rattle, which was recently recalled, out of his four-month-old son’s mouth.
The Gigil’s wooden dumbbell rattle toy was urgently recalled last week after the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission found its size and shape did not comply with safety standards for toys for children aged 0-3.

‘So I was reading that there was a recall on a particular baby rattle that is a chocking hazard,’ Kyle said in an Instagram video posted on The Kyle and Jackie O show’s Instagram page.
‘I glanced down at my child and to my horror it was in his mouth so I snatched it away and saved his life.’
The recall notice for the toy read last week: ‘The rattle may pose a choking or suffocation hazard for young children, which can lead to severe injury or death.’

The ACCC said consumers should immediately stop using the rattle, have it destroyed and arrange a refund from Gigil.
‘Consumers should provide a photograph to show the product has been destroyed. If the product has already been disposed of, consumers should notify Gigil so that the safe disposal of the products can be monitored,’ the ACCC said.
The toy had been available for sale online between February 10 and December 1 this year.

Meanwhile, Kyle welcomed his son Otto with his fiancée Tegan on August 11.
Kyle’s co-host Jackie O announced the happy news on-air and Kyle’s manager Bruno Bouchet told Daily Mail Australia: ‘Little Otto was born this morning. Mum and bub both doing well.’
‘Kyle’s beyond excited. Kyle will be back on tomorrow’s radio show to chat all things Otto,’ he added.
Jackie, who is Otto’s godmother, shed tears of joy as she declared: ‘Otto has been born!’
