MAFS star says he ‘regrets’ having the Covid vaccine after being forced to get the jab to appear on the show: ‘I wish so bad I never did it’

Married At First Sight star Daniel Holmes says he ‘regrets’ getting the Covid-19 vaccine so he could appear on last year’s season.

The bodybuilder, 32, at first said he would ‘never’ get the jab but changed his tune when MAFS producers enforced a vaccine mandate for all cast members.

Now, almost two years after getting the shot without any adverse side effects, Daniel says he wishes he hadn’t agreed to roll up his sleeve.

He wrote on Instagram on April 13: ‘I honestly wish so bad that I had never got the jab. Oh well, too late now, but definitely a regret.’

Endemol Shine, the production company behind MAFS, had required all cast and crew to be fully vaccinated while filming season nine in late 2021.

About a month before entering the experiment as an intruder, Holmes had shared a fiery Facebook post claiming he would never get the Covid shot because it took away his ‘freedoms’.

‘They’re gonna have to tie me down before I get vaccinated,’ the Brisbane-based bodybuilder wrote in the now-deleted post on September 25.

‘Not because I don’t believe in it, but because they’re taking away my freedoms if I don’t. It’s the oldest rule in the book of sales. Get the prospect saying yes and they’re easier to convert,’ he added.

But as soon as Holmes was cast on Married At First Sight in October 2021, he promptly agreed to get both Covid-19 jabs.

It was around this time that Holmes kicked his steroid habit, having used the bodybuilding drug from the age of 23.

In May 2022, Holmes told Daily Mail Australia that getting hooked on steroids was one of the biggest regrets of his life as it ‘completely f**ked’ his metabolism.

‘I eat so clean but it’s very difficult for me to get, like, lean now,’ he said.

‘Like, if I were on steroids right now, I’d be shredded, but I’m not because it’s taken eight months and my body’s still trying to get back to normal, almost like I can feel it.

‘Don’t get inspired by the steroid scene. It’s not good. It’s a drug addiction. It’s a straight-up drug addiction.’

Daniel said he didn’t realise he was addicted to steroids until he decided to stop.

‘It had just become a normal part of my life. I would tell people at times that I’ve come off, but we never really come off – we just lower the dose and do it less frequently. You know, it’s scary,’ he revealed.

He credited his then-girlfriend Carolina Santos, with whom he had an affair on MAFS, with helping him cure his addiction after they met on the show.
