Former Miss Universe Australia Maria Thattil confirmed her split with girlfriend Jorgia O’Hare in June after a ‘wonderful’ year together.
And the Melbourne-based beauty, 30, says she has no regrets about making her love life public despite things not working out.
Speaking to Confidential on Thursday, Maria explained: ‘She was the first time I’d fallen in love in four years and I suddenly had a public platform. I knew it was only a matter of time before people connected the dots.
‘I have never publicly shared who I dated before this year. I’m generally a very private person.
‘When I became Miss Universe, I intentionally asked people I dated to keep it private because I didn’t want to be talked about as someone’s girlfriend.’

The I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star confirmed she and Jorgia went their separate ways on Instagram last month.
‘After a beautiful year together, Jorgia and I wish to share that we are no longer together,’ she shared in a statement to her Instagram.
‘Her love healed so much in me and was a light that I was missing for a long time. Whilst we are no longer together, we have nothing but respect for each other and continue to support each other.
‘Our break up has been loving, safe, intimate, secure and respectful.
‘We will both be okay, but please respect our privacy – thank you for the beautiful support.’
Not long after Maria posted this to her over 200k followers, Jorgia also shared it to her own page, and added her own comment.
She wrote: ‘Privileged to be loved by her. I will always stand in this woman’s corner… nothing but love and respect for our connecting.

Rumours began swirling two weeks ago that the couple had broken up, as Melbourne-based Maria travelled to Australian Fashion Week in Sydney solo.
Speaking to The Herald Sun at the time, Maria was cryptic when asked about the couple’s relationship.
‘Jorgia, she is doing some incredible things at the moment in Melbourne and we love and support each other so much,’ Thattil said when quizzed.
The couple appeared on the cover of Stellar magazine together back in January after meeting online some months beforehand.

Maria revealed back in January the pair hit it off almost immediately after meeting each other for a date.
‘It was lust at first sight and it was obsession at first sight,’ she said of the Melbourne mental health professional.
‘After that first date, I ended up spending the night and the next day, I went off on a work trip to the Gold Coast with my brother and I was secretly referring to her as my girlfriend. I hadn’t felt that way in a long time’.
Maria, who is of Indian heritage, added: ‘Growing up, if I had seen an interracial same-sex female couple in the media – open, visible, living truthfully – that might have shaped my own experience a little bit more positively’.

Jorgia has found fame on social media platform TikTok, racking up 86,000 followers.
The pair sparked rumours they were dating after fans spotted them exchanging flirty messages online.
Maria, a model and 9Honey columnist, has tellingly commented ‘Dream girl’ and ‘wowweeeeeee’ on several of Jorgia’s posts.
Maria came out as bisexual in January last year while a contestant on Channel 10’s I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and has since defined herself as pansexual.
