The Real Housewives Of New York City officially dropped a new teaser clip on Peacock’s Twitter page on Monday ahead of the show’s premiere with an all-new rebooted cast.
The Bravo series, which first began airing back in 2008, is slated to air its 14th season on the network later next month on July 16, although fans of the show won’t see the original cast members returning to the screen.
Following negative reviews after season 13, showrunners opted to completely recast the series, with Andy Cohen announcing the new diverse housewives late last year in October: Sai De Silva, Erin Dana Lichey, Brynn Whitfield, Jenna Lyons, Ubah Hassan, and also Jessel Taank.
The beginning of the nearly 30-second clip showed the new ladies sitting in a spacious living room while playing an ice breaker game together where they had to choose from a list of addictions: p**n, shopping, arguing, or alcohol.
While most chose shopping, Somali-Canadian model, Ubah Hassan, revealed to the group, ‘Actually, I’m not addicted to any of that.’

Fellow co-star, Jenna Lyons, looked over at Ubah and questioned, ‘You are not addicted to anything?’ which caused Hassan to reply with, ‘No, none of that.’

The other housewives quickly caught on to what Whitfield was referencing to, but Ubah adamantly insisted she was talking about the fruit. ‘No! Like, serious banana. The one she was eating today!’ she added, pointing to someone off screen.
Noticing that the group wasn’t convinced, Hassan stated, ‘First of all, let me give you a little background on culture,’ which prompted the teaser clip to suddenly come to an end.
Filming for the 14th season began in fall 2022, and the official premiere date was announced last month in May via a teaser posted on Instagram which featured a shot of a red apple being grabbed by a woman’s hand who proceeds to take a bite out of it.
The short clip was captioned: ‘Start spreading the news. #RHONY Season 14 premieres July 16th! [sparkle, apple, sparkle emojis].’

Lizzy Savetsky was also originally set to join the rebooted cast, but in November 2022, she took to her Instagram to reveal that she had quit the series following online bullying as well as ‘anti-Semitic threats.’
At the time, she media star penned in a statement, ‘I will not be continuing on the Real Housewives of NYC. As a proud orthodox Jewish woman, I thought participating in this series would be a great chance to represent people like me and share my experience.’

According to Page Six, sources claimed that other drama that occurred between Lizzy and her co-star, Brynn Whitfield, behind-the-scenes also prompted Savetsky’s early exit from the Bravo show.
The insiders claimed that Brynn had asked Lizzy to set her up with a Jewish man, but Savetsky allegedly stated ‘Orthodox Jews favor marriages between Jews to preserve the ethnic lineage’ and that ‘Judaism is not just a belief system, but also a people.’

The sources further claimed that Whitfield had been offended, and the two ended up having a phone call exchange which turned heated. And in late November, Lizzy made the decision to leave the Real Housewives franchise.

However, Bravo had hinted that a spin-off with original cast members could come into fruition called RHONY: Legacy, which Singer previously labeled as ‘The Loser Show.’

And earlier this year in January, sources told Page Six that the network has also simply ‘lost interest’ in pursuing the show while there are also issues in regards to money offered as well as the number of episodes promised to the returning stars.
Per the outlet, the cast members have been promised only four episodes for the first season. ‘It’s not worth it,’ one source stated. ‘And it’s insulting. These are the women that have made the show a hit in the first place. They don’t deserve to be nickel-and-dimed.’
A separate insider close to the production also explained that, ‘The network seems to have just lost interest in pursuing the Legacy edition at this point.’
‘It seems producers are more focused on the RHONY reboot, which we are hearing is fun, funny and aspirational.’
