The show sees contestants sign up before a small number of players are secretly selected by Claudia Winkleman to be The Traitors. The rest of the players are known as ‘The Faithful’ and none of The Faithful know who The Traitors are.

Players are then eliminated when The Traitors meet in secret and decide to ‘murder’ one of The Faithful. The next morning, when the group meet for breakfast, the ‘murdered’ player does not appear.

Later in the day, all the players then have to meet at the ‘Round Table’ and ‘banish’ the player they suspect of being a Traitor.

Out of the 22 original contestants, just five remain to fight it out for the prize money, after Faithful Maddy Smedley was banished from the castle in the penultimate episode.

There are two Traitors left – Wilf Webster and Keiran Tompsett – who must convince the Faithfuls that they are innocent and one of them.

And after playing a very clever and often dastardly game – which saw him plot against fellow Traitor Amanda Lovett resulting in her shock banishment – Wilf is determined to come out on top.

While three Faithfuls remain – Hannah Byczkowski, Aaron Evans and Meryl Williams – with the trio having to work hard as a group to identify the murderers.

Speaking about his shock at reaching the final undiscovered, Will said: ‘It’s very surreal, I didn’t think I’d get this far at one pointWhen all the fingers were pointing at me, I never thought I’d make it this far’

However he admitted the taking on the role hasn’t been easy and it’s ‘backstabbing’ his new friends had been a ‘struggle’.

‘I really didn’t think it would be as hard as it was to murder people, or watch people get banished knowing that you’re the one that should be banished’.

While Hannah, who has never questioned pal Wilf’s loyalty, revealed she had ‘no idea’ how she made it to the final and was convinced she’d last ‘about five minutes’.

‘I think you spend so much time second guessing and game planning, trying to get a game plan together and then that all goes out the window and you’re just happy to be there another day!’

Faithful Aaron has found fingers constantly pointed at him by other players and accused daily of being a traitor.

When asked if he thought he would make it to the final he exclaimed: ‘No way! Are you joking?’

‘No, I did not think I’d make it through to the final five. I thought I’d go out after day three and that’s before I even knew what would happen in day three’.

Meryl – who has also been wrongly accused of being a traitor – said making it to the final was a real ‘pinch me’ moment.

‘I never expected it in a million years. When I first went onto the show I just wanted to try and get through. I kept just thinking one more day, one more day. I never ever thought I was going to get this far, for sure. It feels surreal’.

Meanwhile,  Kieran found himself dramatically booted from the show in episode one alongside Amos, before later returning as a faithful ahead of joining the traitor ranks alongside Wilf.

Recalling the early exit he said: ‘And I was getting prepared to get stick left, right and centre for it!’

‘It was the most brutal twist in a game show ever and it set the tone of the show to perfection – it got everyone hooked from the first episode. But being on the end of it was hard’.

The Traitors concludes on Thursday at 9pm on BBC One. Catch up now on BBC iPlayer.
