Thomas Tuchel suffered Champions League heartbreak last night in the semi-finals of this year’s competition.

The German was in charge of Chelsea when they won the tournament back in 2021, however he will not be adding the honour to his personal trophy cabinet again in his final game in charge of Bayern Munich.

Late drama at the Bernabeu saw Real Madrid head through to the final, with Antonio Rudiger setting up the eventual winning goal.

There was late offside drama that stopped the game going to extra-time, however the bottom line is Tuchel is about to become the first Bayern manager since 2012 to go a season trophyless.

Chelsea fans were paying attention to the massive game, with loanee Kepa Arrizabalaga also on the bench for the hosts last night.

It is safe to say those who took to Twitter after the match were in agreement that they had their reservations about the manager, and those were only enforced by what they saw.

Chelsea fans not impressed by Thomas Tuchel

One user said: “Tuchel bottles against Real Madrid with Chelsea in 2022 and bottles it again with Bayern Munich in 2024.”

Another added: “I remember it happened to Chelsea too but we Chelsea fans didn’t forget those Tuchel subs.”

A third stated: “That was my only issue with Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea as well. Tactical Genius, but can be a bit too pragmatic and negative at times with his set up and substitutions. Such a shame.”

Another claimed: “Facts. We won the UCL, But people forget the football wasn’t great at all. Especially against lesser teams.”

Finally, one stated: “The first Bayern Munich manager to go trophyless in a season since 2012. Thomas Tuchel is overrated and Chelsea literally gave him a career.”

Chelsea fans getting confidence in Mauricio Pochettino

While Chelsea will not be taking part in Champions League football next season, supporters will perhaps be confident that this could well be on the cards in the coming years.

They currently sit in the European places ahead of next season, and their good form will leave many confident the project is finally heading in the right direction under Mauricio Pochettino.
